My Story
After a childhood fear of doctors due to my needle phobia, I decided to go into medicine because I, initially, wanted other children to not have the same fear I did. I wanted to create an office where children would be comfortable and have a good experience. I’ve always known I wanted to work with children in some capacity. I was the “older kid” who played with the “little kids” during recess because I loved their imagination and their energy, so becoming a Pediatrician seemed like a logical path. But then I began to actually explore the profession, and something about it just didn’t seem to suit me. It felt very dismissive, like “take two and call me in the morning,” and didn’t actually help the patient in the moment or help them become healthy overall. I looked into Physical therapy first and it seemed perfect. More hands on Health and Wellness. So I volunteered at Pediatric, In-Patient, and Out-Patient Physical Therapy clinics. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the correct prerequisites needed to get into a Physical Therapy Program.
That was when a family friend, who worked at the school I ended up graduating from, suggested Chiropractic. I was accepted and fell in love with the practice. I loved how it was still hands on Health and Wellness and how it preferred the Salutogenic, or “Health Focused” versus the Pathogenic, or “Illness Focused” model of medicine. I loved how the effects of my treatment were instantaneous and I felt like I was actually helping my patient at that moment. I was also elated to discover the Pregnancy and Pediatric branch of Chiropractic, which I am working towards specializing in with the Webster Technique and the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association Certification.
Mission
To promote Health and Wellness starting before birth and continuing throughout life.
- I believe in promoting health for you, your children, and your grandchildren, and it must begin within you.
-I believe in starting healthy habits early (as in prenatal early), leading by example, and breaking generational bad habits and trends.
-I believe in challenging the modern medical model that illness is inevitable and acknowledging that our bodies are miraculous natural machines that are designed to be healthy, and promoting that health with regular chiropractic visits, nutrition, exercise, and appreciation and care of the Self.
